There’s nothing worse than looking for Halloween decorations and coming face to face with Christmas stuff all over the place. It feels like the world is just rushing along, skipping over Fall and sprinting into Winter. Well, we here at LLS like to take a deep breath and enjoy the Fall…before sprinting into Winter with everyone else. Hey, if you can’t beat them, join them, which is why we start gearing up for our winter season with a series of info meetings in October.
Don’t get me wrong, we still enjoy the same fall activities that everyone else does. For instance, it’s a well-known fact that Fall is the best time to take a walk. There’s something about crunching through leaves and smelling that brisk autumn air that’s so refreshing. We even take it a step further by adding illuminated balloons to our walks, and live music, and matching T-shirts, and great food…really, Light The Night is like a slice of the best of Fall, all in three walks.
And we’re still enjoying the last of our summer and fall Team In Training events, which wrap up in the coming months, with the last fall event being the Honolulu Marathon on December 12th. We’ve got some great events remaining; for instance, this weekend our marathon team is heading out for the Royal Victoria Marathon, and next weekend is one of our biggest TNT events, the Nike Women’s Marathon, which is the same weekend our cycle team will be completing the Revolution in the Vineyards century.
So clearly we’re enjoying Fall to the fullest even as we prepare for Winter. Interested in launching your own winter activities? Why not join us at one of our upcoming info meetings and check out our exciting line-up of winter events? You can find a list of our info meetings here. Remember, if you’re an alumni, we’re offering discounted fundraising minimums, so there’s never been a better time to come back! Winter season also marks the launch of our IronTeam, so start thinking about how awesome you would look with an m dot tattoo and head on over to an info meeting to see how our coaches can get you trained up and ready!
And if you’re not quite ready to let Fall pass you by, there are still two remaining Light The Night Walks: October 16th in Palo Alto, and October 23rd in San Jose. You can email Nicole.Stone@lls.org for more info or to sign up. That’s it. Now I’m off to buy some Halloween decorations while I still can.
